Dalhousie

Dalhousie is one of the most famous hill stations of Himachal Pradesh. It stretches itself leisurely through the five mountains, Kathlog, Potreyn, Terah, Bakrota and Bhangora. It doesn’t matter which part of the town you may be in, the sight of snowcapped peaks of Dhauladhar Range greet you constantly. The clouds embrace the mountains in the distance, while the greenery of the landscape is brought out by the sun’s rays in another.

How to Reach Dalhousie

By Road :

Roads leading to Dalhousie might be long but are worth travelling on. Several private and state buses of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HPTC) and Haryana Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) provide their services from nearby cities. From New Delhi, it takes around 11 hours via NH 1 to reach Dalhousie, covering a distance of about 565 km. Besides, the destination is also well connected with other major places of the region like Chamba (45 km), Amritsar (200 km) and Shimla (365 km).

By Air :

Surrounded by lofty mountains and pine-clad valleys, Dalhousie is another scenic cool retreat of Himachal Pradesh, flocked by a large number of tourists every year. Reaching Dalhousie is quite easy as the place is well connected with other parts of the country via an extensive network of flights, buses and trains. Gaggal Airport, also known as Kangra Airport (approximately 130 km away) is the nearest airbase to Dalhousie. Those travelling by train can book their tickets till Pathankot railway station, which is about 85 km away.

Day : 01 : Delhi to Dalhousie (Overnight Volvo)

After arriving at Delhi Airport/ Railway Station, guests reach Volvo Pickup Point (on their own) in the evening. They embark on the Volvo Bus from Delhi to Dalhousie. This would be an overnight journey from Delhi to Dalhousie. Next morning guests reach Dalhousie.

Day : 02 : Dalhousie Pickup – Kalatop – Dainkund

This morning guests arrive at Dalhousie by Volvo. Our representative picks up our guests from the Volvo Pickup Point. Next we move on to our pre-booked hotel for checkin and freshup. Post check in we move for the sightseeing around Dalhousie. We visit Kalatop. The name Kalatop means 'black cap', which refers to the thick, black forest cover on the highest hilltop in the sanctuary. Situated a few kilometres away from the Chamba dam and Chamera reservoir on river Ravi, it is known to be rich in flora and fauna. Next we visit Dainkund Peak. Dainkund Peak, also known as the Singing Hill, is perched at an elevation of 2755 masl in Dalhousie. Being the highest point in Dalhousie, the peak offers a bird’s eye view of the astonishing verdant valleys and mountains. By the evening we are back to our hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day : 03 : Dalhousie – Khajjiar – Panjpulla – Dalhousie

This morning after breakfast we visit Khajjiar. One of the most scenic Plateau known as the mini Switzerland of India and is surrounded by dense pine and deodar forests. There is a small lake in center with a floating island and 9-hole golf course here. Next we visit Panjpulla. Known for its cascading waterfalls and five scenic wooden bridges, Panjpulla is a picturesque picnic spot and a starting point of several hiking trails. The nature is lushest and the falls are richest during the monsoon season, but throughout the year families can enjoy various rides at the small amusement park featuring slides, a Ferris wheel, and a small boating area. By the evening we are back to our hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day : 04 : Dalhousie Local Sightseeing – Delhi (Overnight Volvo)

This morning after breakfast check out from our hotel and move on for our local sightseeing of Dalhousie. We visit St. John’s Church . Built in 1863, St John's Church is the oldest church in Dalhousie and assumes great historical significance apart from being a sentinel of Protestant belief in the region. Located in Gandhi Chowk, it tends to be a favourite amongst photographers because of the steady mix of beauty and history. Next we visit the Gandhi Chowk. Unlike other hill stations, Dalhousie doesn't have a mall road, so Gandhi Chowk is the Mall Road of Dalhousie. For shopping in Dalhousie, the town has several local bazaars and centres at Gandhi Chowk. One can shop for simple local souvenirs, woollen clothes and every-day treasures. There are a plethora of small shops to fulfil your list of gift items including The Tibetan Market, the Himachal Handloom Industry Emporium, Himachal Handloom and Crafts Centre and Tibetan Handicrafts Centre. By the evening our representative drops our guest at Dalhousie volvo pickup point. Guests embark on the overnight Volvo from Dalhousie to Delhi. The next day they reach Delhi and continue their onward journey home.
