Dharamsala is located in the district of Kangra in Himachal Pradesh. What many people don’t know is that there are two parts of the city. One is known as Lower Dharamshala, which is its commercial center and dotted with markets, courts and the famous Kotwali Bazaar, where you come across items of everyday use. Upper Dharamshala is home to Mcleodganj as well as other structures which remind you of its colonial past.
Dharamshala is connected to Delhi and other parts of North India via a network of both state operated buses and private tour operators. Most buses stop at the main bus terminal of Lower Dharamshala.
The nearest airport to Dharamshala is Gaggal Airport, located about 13 km away.
After arriving at Delhi Airport/ Railway Station, guests reach Volvo Pickup Point (on their own) in the evening. They embark on the Volvo Bus from Delhi to Dalhousie. This would be an overnight journey from Delhi to Dalhousie. Next morning guests reach Dalhousie.
This morning our representative will pickup guests from the Volvo pickup point. Post pickup we move to our Dharamshala hotel for Check-in formalities. Post check-in formalities we move for Dharamshala Sightseeing. We visit Namgyal Monastry. It is the largest Tibetan temple outside Tibet. The monks residing here in the monastery carry out practices for the well-being of Tibet and work as a centre of learning and meditation on the Buddhist philosophical exposition. Next we move on to visit Gyuto Monastery. The Gyuto Monastery is beautifully constructed on a hilltop with a commanding view of the Dhauladhar Ranges and the Beas River from there.The glorious monastery has helped in depicting how, unlike popular belief, black magic can be used for the well-being of the people. Next we visit Dalai Lama Temple . It is a politico-religious centre in Dharamsala. Ideal for peaceful meditation and religious rumination, the temple is full of lamas at all points of the day chanting on prayer wheels or beads. The majestic temple is in close vicinity to the abode of Dalai Lama and is frequently visited by him to preach and conduct prayer meets. By the evening we are back to our hotel for dinner and overnight Stay.
This morning after breakfast we move on to visit Dharamshala Cricket Stadium, also known as the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium. It it is one of the highest sports grounds in the world. The stadium is open for tourists even when no matches are scheduled. Next we visit St. John Church. St. John in the Wilderness, built in 1852, is one of the most important churches in Himachal Pradesh. Located near Dharamshala and on the way to Mcleodganj, this neo-gothic church was built in dedication to John the Baptist. Set amidst lush deodar forests, this peaceful edifice is known for its Belgian stained-glass windows. Next we visit Dal Lake. The Dal Lake is a small yet picturesque lake. With its name taken from the famous and breathtaking Dal Lake of Srinagar, the lake is surrounded by rugged mountains and towering deodar trees. Quaint and calm, the lake invites nature-lovers to watch different kinds of fishes in their natural habitat. After visiting the lake we move to Bhagsunag Falls. The Bhagsu Waterfall is perhaps the most famous tourist spot in Dharamshala and attracts tourists who wish to revel in the glories of nature and spend some quiet moments in peace and serenity. The Bhagsunag Waterfall is located on the main road which connects Mcleodganj and Dharamshala and is an ideal location for picnicking with family and loved ones.After visiting falls we visit Bhagsunag Temple. Surrounded by lovely pools and lush greenery, the Bhagsunag Temple is one of the oldest ancient temples located about 3 kilometres from Mcleodganj. Also popularly known as Bhagsunath Temple, it is highly revered by the local Gorkha and Hindu community. The two pools around the temple are believed to be sacred and are considered to contain miraculous powers of healing. By the late evening we are back to our hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
This morning after breakfast we check out from our hotel at Dharamshala and leave for Palampur Sightseeing. We visit the Tea Gardens at Palampur. Palampur is rightly known as the Tea Capital of Northern India and is famous all across the country for its vast spreads of lush tea gardens, which are the chief attraction of the town. The tea gardens of Palampur are the perfect place to witness the vast tea gardens and the tea making process in great detail. Stepping into these lush green gardens makes you feel as if you have stepped into a dream world altogether, and the divine fragrance transforms you into heaven. This experience is heightened for tea lovers, for whom this place is like paradise on earth. By the evening our representative will drop off our guests at Dharamshala Volvo pickup point. Guests onboard the overnight Volvo from Dharamshala to Delhi.
